JoLen Rawls Wolf - Biography

After nine years as a Legal Writing Professor and Associate in Law at The Florida State University College of Law, Mrs. Wolf joined The Mills Firm in June 2011. Although she focuses on family law appeals at The Mills Firm, she handles all types of appeals.
While at FSU Law School, Mrs. Wolf taught Legal Writing and Research, Florida Dissolution of Marriage, and Family Law. She created a book for her Florida Dissolution of Marriage class that has been widely used by others who teach that class at FSU. While teaching, Mrs. Wolf also engaged in a limited practice of appellate law for family law cases.
Before her tenure teaching at FSU Law School, Mrs. Wolf practiced with Gardner, Shelfer, Duggar, & Bist, concentrating on family law trial support and appeals. While there, she handled all of the family law appeals. She also handled probate matters and other appeals. She was AV-rated by Martindale-Hubble when practicing with the Gardner law firm. Before entering the world of family law, Mrs. Wolf served as a cabinet aide where she focused on environmental issues.
Mrs. Wolf’s love for appellate advocacy began when she was an Assistant State Attorney. After writing briefs and arguing one case before the Fourth District Court of Appeal, she knew her niche in the law. When the opportunity arose, she became a Research Assistant to the late Honorable George W. Hersey at the Fourth District Court of Appeal. In that position, she honed her skills as both legal researcher and legal writer.
A native Floridian, Mrs. Wolf’s roots stem from the Williams family, which settled in Northwest Florida, specifically Jackson County, around 1820. Not surprisingly, Mrs. Wolf graduated from The Florida State University and then from The Florida State University College of Law.
