Born and raised in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kyle graduated summa cum laude from the University of Idaho College of Law before moving to Jacksonville in 2021 to clerk for Judge Gerald B. Tjoflat of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. John Mills, who clerked for Judge Tjoflat himself 25 years earlier, recruited him after his clerkship, securing the talents of a promising upcoming appellate lawyer.
During law school, Kyle served as an extern for Judge B. Lynn Winmill of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho and as an intern for the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, Kyle was an editor on the Idaho Law Review, a teacher assistant for two years for a legal writing professor, and a research assistant for multiple law professors.
Splitting his time between trial support and briefing appeals in Florida and Georgia state and federal courts, Kyle is trusted to handle levels of responsibility unusual for his level of experience in a wide variety of matters. He has also quickly become a respected lecturer at CLE events and a co-author with John of several columns in the Florida Justice Association’s Journal.
Kyle is active not just in the Florida Justice Association, but also as an associate in the Chester Bedell Inn of Court and the Jacksonville Bar Association. An Eagle Scout and master of board and card games, Kyle enjoys hiking, swimming, and travel in his spare time.
